Description
Commemorate the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II with this selectively coloured quarter ounce fine silver coin from the Royal Canadian Mint. The main design presents Her Majesty as seen in her last official Canadian portrait during her 2010 visit. The Queen is surrounded by maple leaves that represent Canada and its special relationship with The Queen, together with her Royal Cypher. The coin is a 2023 new release, but it is double dated 1952-2022 marking the years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
The obverse features a new tribute design combining the four effigies of Queen Elizabeth that have graced Canadian coinage since her coronation in 1953. The effigies span from showing the young Queen at the age of 27 at her coronation to the most recent effigy used through her 2022 platinum jubilee in 2022. Each coin comes in an illustrated gift card folder that includes a timeline of Queen Elizabeth II’s official visits to Canada. HST/GST exempt.
During her long reign, Queen Elizabeth II made 22 official visits to Canada, more times than to any other Commonwealth nation. These travels brought The Queen to every province and territory, where, reunited with her Canadian “family,” Queen Elizabeth II joined in some of our greatest celebrations and milestones.
Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, and acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952 upon the death of her father King George VI. Her coronation was held on June 2, 1953. Her Majesty ruled with grace and dignity for more than 70 years until her death on September 8th , 2022.
