Description
Canada’s national emblem is always eye-catching, and it certainly is on this captivating collectible, which combines timeless art with the refined prestige of 99.95% pure platinum—a precious metal more rare than gold and silver. On the coin’s reverse, the maple arrangement features an array of frostings that highlight each individual leaf. Selective gold plating frames the art and makes one leaf stand out from the rest; its golden gleam highlights the leaf’s pleasing symmetrical form. Mintage is extremely limited to 325. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
Designed by RCM senior engraver Stan Witten, the design features an inspiring arrangement of sugar maple leaves. Selective gold plating highlights the rim and the foremost maple leaf, while the other leaves are set apart by different frostings that create a striking contrast against the slightly matte field. The rim is also gold-plated on the obverse, which features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
