In honour of its 40th anniversary, this special numismatic edition release is offered at a limited volume. Unchanged since the very first issue in 1979, the solitary maple leaf that adorns the reverse design is widely regarded as a symbol for unparalleled artistry, craftsmanship and value. Mintage is limited to 99 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design by Royal Canadian Mint engravers features the iconic maple leaf design from the original Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin released in 1979, artfully interlinked with a large, stylized number forty, highlighted by contrasting finishes. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
