Description
Although the Royal Canadian Mint produces millions of fine silver bullion coins each year, just 10,000 of this unusual collector edition will be produced. While bullion coins are normally produced with a standard design and finish at the mint’s Ottawa facility, this is the first time a fine silver collector edition has been produced at the mint’s facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The coin includes a “W” mint mark to highlight that the coin was struck in Winnipeg location and also features a unique burnished finish giving it a ‘matte’ appearance. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design for this coin reproduces Master Engraver Walter Ott’s maple leaf from the Mint’s original 1979 bullion coin. This design remains in use on all Royal Canadian Mint bullion coins to this day. The reverse also features a “W” mint mark to the left of the leaf stem, indicating that this numismatic coin was struck at the Winnipeg facility. The obverse includes the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
