Description
After 2020 production interruptions at the Royal Canadian Mint, this May 2021 new release $30 fine silver coin marks the 150th anniversary of Manitoba joining Canadian confederation in 1870. With a 50 mm diameter and a weight of two ounces, the new issue is nearly double the size of the original 1970 issue. It is also much scarcer with a mintage of just 2,500 coins. HST/GST Exempt.
The Design:
The design is based on the1970 Manitoba centennial dollar coin and features the official floral emblem of Manitoba, the prairie crocus. The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is also the original effigy designed by Arnold Machin which was used in 1970, but it is now enhanced with a repeating pattern of the Manitoba 150 logo behind the historic effigy.
