Description
To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Royal Canadian Mint turned Alex Colville’s centennial celebration of Canada into a six-part centennial celebration of the artist. This one tenth ounce pure gold 10 cent coin is the fourth coin in the series. It features the artist’s design for the 1967 Centennial 10-cent circulation coin. A symbol of continuity, the mackerel is featured in 99.99% pure gold. Mintage is limited to just 1,200 coins, including both subscriptions and single coins. GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse re-creates Canada’s 1967 Centennial 10-cent coin design by artist Alex Colville and features a profile view of a mackerel. The reverse also features the engraved face value “10 CENTS”, the word “CANADA” and the date “2020”. The obverse features Canada’s second effigy (1965-1989) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin.
