Description
To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Royal Canadian Mint has turned Alex Colville’s centennial celebration of Canada into a six-part centennial celebration of the artist. This one tenth ounce pure gold dollar coin is the first coin in the series. Mintage is limited to just 1,200 coins, including both subscriptions and single coins. GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
The design features a profile view of a Canada goose in flight. The Canada goose was chosen to represent the characteristics of being both serene and dynamic. The design also includes the engraved face value “DOLLAR”, the word “CANADA” and the date “2020”. The obverse features Canada’s second effigy (1965-1989) of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin, as it appeared on Colville’s original coin designs issued in 1967.
