Description
Since they were first introduced in 2015, every Big Coins Series coin has sold out immediately from the Royal Canadian Mint, and most have appreciated in value in the secondary market. 2019 represents the last of the classic round five ounce fine silver Big Coins before they were replaced in 2020 with the new Real Shape series, and it is also the lowest mintage of the five year series at just 1,250. GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
This large and impressive coin set includes seven different five ounce fine silver coins, for a total of 35 ounces of fine silver. Denominations include a special issue flying loon design dollar, polar bear two dollar coin, coat-of-arms half dollar, caribou quarter, Bluenose dime, beaver nickel and maple leaf design one cent. Each coin is enhanced with reverse gold plating adding a warm-toned gleam that creates a beautiful contrast next to the silver shine of the engraved relief and provides brilliant contrast to the effigy of Queen Elizabeth.
The seven coins come attractively presented in a large mahogany finish wooden case. For collectors of the absolute best, Big Coins is highly sought after as Canada’s highest quality and lowest mintage annual set of all the familiar denominations.
