This 2019 5 cent collector five cent issue is an impressive and visually stunning Big Coin with a 65 mm diameter and a weight of just over five ounces of pure silver. It is enhanced with reverse gold plating, adding a warm-toned gleam that creates a rich contrast next to the silver shine of the engraved relief which makes the effigy of Queen Elizabeth stand out from the golden field.
Scarce, popular, beautiful and dramatically impressive for 2019 in a big five-ounce 65-mm format with reverse gold plating, every coin in this series has sold out immediately from the Royal Canadian Mint. While the 2018 Big Coins had a mintage of 1,500, the mintage for the new 2019 issue is just 1,250, significantly enhancing scarcity and collectability. HST/GST exempt.
The reverse features artist G.E. Kruger-Gray’s iconic image of the right profile of a beaver standing on a rock surrounded by water. With a few exceptions, it has been used continuously on Canadian “nickels” since its first appearance in 1937, but it appears most impressive in this large format. Reverse gold plating fills the field while the coin's silver surface draws the eye to the engraved relief, which includes the words "Canada" and "5 Cents," and the date "2019." The reverse gold-plated obverse features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
