Description
This stunning 2019 50 cent silver coin features selective gold plating on both the reverse and the obverse to bring depth and patina to the historical design. Mintage is limited to 2,500 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design features former Royal Canadian Mint Chief Engraver Thomas Shingles’ rendition of Alan Beddoe’s 1957 redesign of the Canadian coat of arms. The shield is selectively gold plated. The design features the words “CANADA” and “50 CENTS” and the dates “1959 2019”. The obverse design features the “uncrowned” effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick, as it appeared on the original proof dollar. Her Majesty’ image is selectively gold plated.
Celebrate 60 years. Reverse design is based on the 1959 half-dollar, which reflected the revised Canadian coat of arms from 1957.
