Description
Nature is a web of intricate connections, and this large format five ounce fine silver $50 coin with reverse gold plating beautifully exemplifies how the grizzly bear fits into this natural harmony. The original art by Caitlin Lindstrom-Milne presents an upper body image of the grizzly in a pose that demonstrates its formidable power. But look closely at its silhouette to see the unseen. Subtly engraved detail also reveals the bear’s inner nature and the profound relationship it shares with its prey and the land. Mintage is extremely limited at just 750 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design includes a sockeye salmon as it swerves in front of the open mouth. A waterfall with distant mountains is engraved within the bear’s silhouette. Rocks protrude from the water and line the riverbank where evergreens grow. “CANADA 2019 50 DOLLARS” appears in the lower left quadrant of the design. A small gold area within the brilliant silver echoes the curved shape of a swimming salmon.
The obverse design features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt with “ELIZABETH II D.G. REGINA” engraved along the outer edge of the coin.
