Wildlife is a breathing expression of the land. This ethereal connection permeates the art of Canadian artist Jayson Fuerstenberg. He captures the inner nature of the Arctic fox with a mesmerizing double image. A fox sits poised on a background of gold-plated snow. But look closely at its silhouette. Subtle engraving and unprecedented finesse reveal the invisible—the inner landscape of the fox’s existence, complete with its prey.
The coin is dated 2019 with a $50 denomination and weighs five ounces of pure silver. Adding to its collectability, the mintage is extremely limited to only 750 coins. As a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The Arctic fox is poised on a background of gold-plated snow. The fox’s compact ears and muzzle are clearly distinguishable in its ¾ profile. Its distinctive long tail warms its legs. An Arctic landscape is engraved within the fox’s silhouette. It features snow-covered tundra, mountains, and a North American brown lemming, the fox’s preferred prey. “CANADA 2019 20 DOLLARS” appears to the right of the fox’s back. Its engraving follows the contours of the drifting snow.
