The Design:
The reverse image on both the gold and silver coins by Canadian artist Aries Cheung was inspired by traditional Chinese folk art and infused with contemporary design elements.
The obverse image on both the gold and silver coins by Canadian artist Aries Cheung features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt centered in the widest portion of the tear-shaped coin and flanked by ELIZABETH II and D.G. REGINA.

Its prominent scales feature multiple frostings to convey the multi-coloured beauty of this graceful fish. A background of concentric curves evokes the deep, contemplative nature of water with stylized waves breaking at the surface.
