This 2019 $20 fine silver coin is the second in a series that presents the softer side of nature through the animals’ display of affection. In addition to being a beautiful work of art, collectability is enhanced by the extremely low mintage of just 4,000 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The design by W. Allan Hancock features a touching image of two foxes in a special sunset snuggle. Vivid colours re-create a breathtaking sunset backdrop while a balanced combination of colour and engraving adds textural details such as the tree bark and ground. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
One of Canada’s most common mammals, the fox’s true character is a far cry from the trickster of fairy tales and fables. It is timid, secretive and quite nervous by nature. When survival isn’t at stake, the fox can finally relax. And when it does, its displays of affection are those of a peaceful, social creature that loves to groom, play and cuddle as much as its domesticated relative, “man’s best friend”.
