Description
Canada’s largest one cent coin is also an impressive low mintage collectible and the final Big Coin in the highly popular series that started in 2015. This 2019 collector one cent issue is a visually stunning Big Coin with a 65 mm diameter and a weight of just over five ounces of pure silver. It is enhanced with reverse gold plating, adding a warm-toned gleam that creates a rich contrast next to the silver shine of the engraved relief. GST/HST exempt.
Scarce, popular, beautiful and dramatically impressive for 2019 in a big five-ounce 65-mm format with reverse gold plating, every coin in this series has sold out immediately from the Royal Canadian Mint since they were first introduced in 2015, with earlier coins in the Big Coin series appreciating to as much as $1,200 each. And while the 2018 Big Coins had a mintage of 1,500, the mintage for the 2019 issue is just 1,250, significantly enhancing scarcity and collectability.
The Design:
The reverse features G.E. Kruger-Gray’s iconic maple leaf twig. Reverse gold plating fills the field while the coin’s silver surface draws the eye to the engraved relief, which includes the word “CANADA”, the year “2019” and the face value of “1 CENT”. The reverse gold-plated obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
