Description
This special issue one ounce pure silver coin marks the 30th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint’s iconic precious metal Silver Maple Leaf coin. A special anniversary design graces the reverse of this 1oz. pure silver coin, including a flora-themed privy mark as a micro-engraved salute to the host city of the 2018 American Numismatic Association World’s Fair of Money. This proof fine silver coin is dated 2018 with a $5 denomination and weighs one ounce of pure silver. Adding to its collectability, the mintage is limited to just 6,000. As a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse features the Silver Maple Leaf’s (SML) iconic design, but with a special anniversary twist. Unchanged since 1988, the engraved sugar maple leaf is just as detailed on this numismatic tribute as it is on the bullion coin, whose 30th anniversary is commemorated by the large numerals “30”. To the left of the leaf’s stem, a micro-engraved privy mark celebrates the 2018 American Numismatic Association World’s Fair of Money in Philadelphia, Pa., which is represented by the acronym “ANA” and the official State flower of Pennsylvania: the mountain laurel (Kalmialatifolia). The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
