Description
Repoussé Style Coin
This is the second coin in the dramatic and innovative low mintage coin series celebrating three different eras in the remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth. Drawing on the extreme relief found in traditional repoussé metal working, each tribute effigy in the series rises more than 5 mm from the surface of the coin with striking effect, beautifully accentuated with an antique finish. This coin presents the Queen around the time of her coronation in 1953.
This 2018 has a $25 denomination and weighs over one ounce of pure silver, with a radical and captivating technology and a mintage of just 4,500 coins.
The Design:
The reverse portrait design by Canadian artist Bonnie Ross depicts Queen Elizabeth at the time of her coronation. The Queen is portrayed with a three-quarter view instead of the traditional side profile, and is flanked by two rows of maple leaves. Queen Elizabeth acceded to the throne on February 6th, 1952 upon the death of her father King George VI, and her formal coronation was held on June 2, 1953.
