Description
Celebrate the life and times of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as she evolves from the young princess to the new queen, and finally to the matriarch of the family. This unique and innovative low-mintage three-piece $25 coin collection from the Royal Canadian Mint uses extreme relief, with each tribute effigy in the series rising more than 5 mm from the surface of the coin. Each coin is dated 2018 and struck in one ounce of pure silver, and accentuated with an antique finish for a striking effect.
The Young Princess
The ultra-high-relief design by Canadian artist Bonnie Ross depicts Princess Elizabeth at the age of about 11, the time when her uncle Edward VIII abdicated, and she became in direct line for the throne. The princess is portrayed with a three-quarter view instead of the traditional side profile, and is flanked by two rows of maple leaves.
The New Queen
This second design features the 27-year-old Queen Elizabeth at the time of her coronation. The Queen is portrayed with a three-quarter view instead of the traditional side profile, and is flanked by two rows of maple leaves. Queen Elizabeth acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952 upon the death of her father King George VI, and her formal coronation was held on June 2, 1953.
The Matriarch of the Family
This third and final coin in the series presents Elizabeth II at the age of her sapphire jubilee—the 65th anniversary of her reign in 2017. Her gentle smile reveals the wisdom and experience that are uniquely hers as the longest-reigning monarch in Canadian history and in the nearly 1,000-year-long history of the British monarchy.
