2018 $20 Majestic Wildlife: Courageous Cougar - Pure Silver Coin

This 2018 $20 proof fine silver Courageous Cougar pays tribute to Canada’s Majestic Wildlife. Strongly associated with the mountains in the West, there is evidence the cougar is making a comeback in the East, bolstered by the growing population of white-tailed deer. The coin is dated 2018 with a $20 denomination and weighs just over one ounce of pure silver.  Adding to its collectability, the mintage is limited to just 6,000.  As a pure silver coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

Canadian artist Pierre Leduc has created a commanding portrait of a cougar standing on a rocky outcrop. Selective colour brings the alpine trees and the various tones of the rock to life. This highly adaptive feline lives in a variety of habitats, which produces variations in genetics, behaviour and colour. This design features the tawny colour and markings most commonly associated with Canada’s largest cat.
