This 2016 $3 pure silver coin features the Queen Elizabeth Rose. Its distinctive pink blooms have been a favourite of Canadian gardeners, prized for its resilience to harsh climates. The Design:
The design features two open Queen Elizabeth rose blooms. The detailed engraving allows this rose’s delicate beauty to beam through. Its distinct pink colour is captured through gold plating technology, allowing the floral beauty to stand out against the silver background. The reverse is engraved with the words "CANADA," the date "2016" and the face value of "3 DOLLARS".
The Queen Elizabeth Rose:
This beautiful rose was specially bred in 1954 to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, held one year earlier. It will grow up to 1.82 metres (6 feet), and about 91 cm (3 feet) in width, with each bloom measuring up to 10 cm (4 inches) across. This unique pink rose has a long bloom period from summer through to autumn, and a mild fragrance.
