Description
Wheeee! Look out below! Fun takes flight with this beautifully rendered holiday coin featuring two of Canada’s most beloved animals engaged in one of Canadians’ favourite winter pastimes: sledding. This finely crafted coin of 99.99% pure silver captures forever the glee of winter fun.
The Design:
This $25 coin is 99.99% pure silver, with a nominal metal weight of 7.96 grams and a diameter of 27 millimetres. The reverse design by Canadian artist Jesse Koreck features a smiling polar bear and beaver sliding down a snowy hillside on a sled, or toboggan. The adorable grinning beaver sits behind the polar bear, holding onto its friend’s shoulders as the two and their sled fly over a snowy rise. The beaver’s iconic tail flutters behind him along with the blue and green scarf wrapped around his neck. In front of him, the green-capped polar bear smiles serenely, his large furry hind paws resting casually atop the toboggan’s front curve. A vast Arctic snowscape fills the horizon. The brown sled, the polar bear’s green pom-pomed toque, and the beaver’s blue and green striped scarf are coloured. The reverse is engraved with the text “FINE SILVER 9999 ARGENT PUR”, “CANADA”, “25 DOLLARS” and the date “2016”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
Makes a unique and thoughtful holiday gift for children and adults alike, and an excellent addition to any collection featuring Canadian or holiday themes.
