Description

This unusual and visually appealing Canadian $200 fine gold coin was issued in 2016 as Star Trek marked the 50th anniversary of its television debut, and quickly sold out from the Royal Canadian Mint.  Struck in just over half an ounce of pure gold, the coin is uniquely formed as the Star Trek delta-shaped Starfleet insignia.  Worn by the crewmembers of the U.S.S. Enterprise, the insignia serves as the embodiment of Star Trek’s hopeful vision of our future. The coin pays tribute to an icon that represents how far our imaginations can take us, and what we can aspire to be. Mintage is limited to 500 coins. HST/GST exempt.

No strangers to time distortions, engine shutdowns, transporter malfunctions and even hostile takeovers, the U.S.S Enterprise (NCC-1701) and her crew exemplified resilience in the face of adversity. Their encounters with "new life and new civilizations" stirred the imaginations of Canadians young and old, while their acts of courage, compassion, and diplomacy typified humanity's noble ideals—both in their time and ours.

This iconic emblem is widely recognized, even beyond the realm of fandom; it embodies hope for a future where humanity has come together as one, where we are part of a broader community that stretches across the stars. For many fans, the insignia serves as a powerful visual reminder of just how far our imaginations could take us, and much of what we can aspire to learn and become.
