Description
People have been entertained by puzzles since Roman times. One of the most timeless puzzles: finding your way to the center of a maze. This coin serves up a unique version for the 21st century with a maze struck in 99.99% pure silver—complete with a free-rolling ball so you can play! This collectible from the Royal Canadian Mint is both a $20 fine silver coin and a game you can really play. The coin is designed as a maple leaf shaped maze, and includes a small brass ball inset into the display capsule. The brass ball rolls freely along the circular path that forms the maze, challenging us to achieve the goal of getting the brass ball into the middle bullseye. A partial view of Canada’s red coloured maple leaf enhances the background. Mintage is limited to only 8,000. GST/HST exempt.
The Design:
The reverse design brings together the use of colour, precision engraving and an innovative design to create a one-of-a-kind numismatic maze. A small brass ball rolls freely along the engraved circular pathway that forms the maze, while multiple paths provide the challenge of getting the ball to the bull's eye in the centre of the reverse. In the background is a partial view of a Canadian icon that is recognized worldwide: the beautiful red maple leaf that proudly adorns our national flag. The reverse includes the engraved word "CANADA" and the year "2016". The obverse features the face value
"20 DOLLARS" and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
