Get yours before it sells out!
This huge low mintage 2016 pure silver one dollar coin is the first coin in the 2016 “Big Coins” pure silver proof set. The subscription to the 2015 six piece set sold out from the Royal Canadian Mint within minutes of its release, and all individual coins also sold out on the day of release. Values of all coins released so far in this series have gone up in the secondary market, in the range of $700 to $1,200 each. In addition to being spectacular looking coins, the coins in this series now form the top quality coin set in Canada, and individually represent the highest quality coin for each denomination.
The reverse image by Canadian artist Robert Carmichael features the profile portrait of a common loon floating on a still lake with a small island populated by conifers in the left-side background. The loon, waterway, and tree-lined island are selectively coloured. The reverse is also engraved with the text “CANADA” and “DOLLAR” and the date “2016”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
The mintage of this coin and others in the Big Coins series is extremely low, with only 1,500 coins of each design being produced. As a pure silver coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, there is no HST or GST applicable on this item.
