Description
After 52 matches that will be played over a 30-day period in Edmonton, Moncton, Montreal, Ottawa and Winnipeg, the eyes of the world will settle on Vancouver, British Columbia to see which of the record 24 national teams will win the most coveted cup in soccer. BC Place, which has already hosted a number of international soccer events, as well as the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games, will provide spectators with a bright and airy venue to celebrate this beautiful game and the grand finale of its 2015 tournament.
The Design:
Canadian artist Tony Bianco has created a highly detailed design of Vancouver’s BC Place featuring its newly installed columns designed to support the stadium’s retractable roof—the largest of its kind in the world. A soccer ball soars above the stadium in celebration of the 2015 tournament while orcas in the foreground and mountains in the background introduce quintessential images of Canada’s West Coast.
