The Design:
The reverse design of this coin by Canadian artist Greg Banning features an outdoorsman and his dog navigating the rapids in British Columbia’s Fraser River. The image centers around the man and his husky, who are viewed from the front. The man paddles on the right side of the canoe while the dog leans toward the right. In the foreground, a rainbow trout has leapt out of the water just in front of the canoe. The churning river is flanked on both sides by a rocky shoreline giving way to rising mountain sides of coniferous forest. The obverse features a modern effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
