Description

This 2014 $5 coin is meticulously crafted out of 1/10th of an ounce of 99.99% pure gold, and esteems the calm yet capricious bison. This endangered mammal (the largest in North America) has experienced a tumultuous past, and could be considered symbolic of the relationship between early settlers and First Nations communities. This coin offers a potent glimpse of a bison in profile, turning back to look at the viewer.  This coin has a low mintage of 4,000 coins. HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

This coin is impressive in its compactness, and boasts a fineness of engraving that demonstrates the virtuosity of the Royal Canadian Mint’s engravers, showcasing delicate details in not only the fur and features of the great beast, but also in the hyper-realism of the tufts of grass he stands on. This coin has been polished to proof perfection.
