Description
When King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) visited Canada in 1939, it was the first time ever that a reigning British monarch had travelled to North America, and it was a major event in Canada. Two years in the making, the royal tour included a 29 day voyage across Canada and back again by rail, a total of 14,000 kilometers. Mintage is limited to just 6,000 pieces. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
This $25 one ounce fine silver coin marks the Royal visit of 1939 with an ultra high relief double profile portrait of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother), and highlights Canada's long-standing relationship with the monarchy. The coin is engraved with the word "CANADA," the face value of "25 DOLLARS and the date “2014.”
