Description
This 2014 low mintage $200 Pure Gold Ultra High Relief coin celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the Royal Visit to Canada. This marked the first time a reigning monarch had ever travelled to North America. Two years in the making, this royal tour was a 29 day voyage across Canada and back again by rail, a total of 14,000 kilometers. Mintage is limited to 500 coins. As a pure gold coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
The coin features ultra high relief effigies of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Engravers re-created the King’s Military hat to accurately represent the attire he wore during the 1939 royal tour. The coin is engraved with the word "CANADA," the face value of "200 DOLLARS and the date “2014.” Each coin is struck four times using special tooling and blank developed specifically for the demanding pressures of the ultra high relief.
