Description

This 2015 $20 fine silver coin is a monument to The Royal Ontario Museum, and celebrates 100 years of connecting visitors with the natural world around them, as well as the many cultures that have shaped human history. This historic coin is an appropriate artefact of the history of the ROM. The coin weighs one ounce of pure silver, and has a limited mintage of just 8,500 pieces.  As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

The design features a gold plated image of a bust of Cleopatra VII (one of the museum's very first acquisitions in the early 1900s) against a backdrop of the world-renowned Michael Lee-Chin Crystal addition to the initial building.  The museum, one of the largest in North America, attracts over one million visitors per year, and is noted world-wide for its contributions as a field-research institution, conducting research that spans all corners of the globe. 40 varying galleries and over six million items within their collections contribute to the Royal Ontario Museum's global popularity.  On the front of the coin is the word “CANADA”, the date “2014”, the face value of “20 DOLLARS” and “100 YEARS ANS” are engraved.
