Description
This $20 dollar fine silver coin with selective gold plating is the third in the Seven Sacred Teachings series. The seven sacred teachings recognized by First Nations people across Canada are love, respect, courage, honesty, wisdom, humility, and truth. The mintage is limited to 7,000, making this one of the lowest mintage $20 coins. As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
This coin depicts an image of a great bear standing behind an abstract warrior figure. The bear's head is lowered because there is no need for an outward display of strength; everyone knows the bear's power. The bear is the warrior's mentor and guide; a source of wisdom and courage to fight when necessary. The background pattern of sweetgrass reinforces the bear's teachings. Sweetgrass is considered the hair of Mother Earth and is therefore braided. On the back of the coin the effigy is gold plated. The words “Elizabeth II” and “Fine Silver 1 oz Argent Pur” are around the rim of the coin. On the left is the date “2014”, and on the right is “9999”.
