Description
This 2014 $20 fine silver coin is the first ever to include an inlay of genuine jade, an ornamental stone that has long symbolized prosperity. The combination of this new jade inlay carved to the shape of a maple leaf, and iconic artwork by Pierre Leduc unite beautifully to make a highly collectible new issue from the Royal Canadian Mint.
The design features a sprig of leaves from the sugar maple, with one of the leaves inlayed in jade. The Royal Canadian Mint's engravers have given depth to this image by showcasing the maple's deeply-cut veins strikingly set against a brilliant background. Around the rim of the coin the word "CANADA", the date "2014" and the face value of "20 DOLLARS" are engraved.
The coin weighs just over one ounce of pure silver, and has a limited mintage of just 8,500 pieces. As a pure silver coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.
