Description
The first 1/2 oz silver coin in the Royal Canadian Mint's O Canada series focusing on iconic Canadian images. The reverse design by Canadian artist Yves Berube features that iconic Arctic structure: the igloo. The image presents an Inuit man lifting a freshly cut ice block in front of his igloo. Working with strength and precision in sub-zero temperatures, he constructs his snow house and then removes ice blocks from the structure's interior floor to expand its interior space and build the rounded tunnel that will cover the igloo's entrance and keep cold air at bay. The image is framed with a polished outer circle engraved with the word "CANADA," the date "2014," the face value of "10 DOLLARS" and a small stylized igloo. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
