Description

The dragonfly is both a mystical symbol of transformation and light, and a truly beautiful creature of nature. This pure silver $10 coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint features the Green Darner dragonfly in full colour, set against a holographic background which highlights the magical properties of the dragonfly. The coin is double struck with a proof finish, and weighs just over half an ounce of fine silver. Mintage of this coin is limited to just 10,000 coins. As a pure silver coin, this item is GST/HST exempt.

The Design:

The full colour design features the Green Darner’s wingspan, emerald green thorax, large green eyes, and characteristic “bulls-eye” marking as well as its long blue “darning needle” abdomen. The hologram background adds dimension and movement. In the top portion of the background the vegetation on the water’s edge, trees are reflected on the ponds surface and lily pads are in the center. The polished silver border around the image is engraved with the word “CANADA,” the date “2014” and the face value of “10 DOLLARS.”
