Description
This 2014 $10 proof fine silver coin was designed by Canadian artist Maskull Lasserre. It transports you back to June 6, 1944 – forever known as D-Day. Canadian infantry soldiers are seen in full battle gear as they disembark from a Landing Craft Assault vehicle and make their way to what’s become known as Juno Beach. The coin is double struck with the Royal Canadian Mint’s highest quality proof finish of .9999 fine silver. The coin has a diameter of 34 mm and a weight of 15.87 grams (½ ounce). Mintage is limited to 8,000 pieces. As a pure silver coin, this item is HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
In the foreground, one soldier looks on while another at left looks back at the viewer, who is about to follow the others into the low Atlantic tide. This pure silver coin is engraved with the word "CANADA", the face value “10 DOLLARS” and the date “1944-2014".
