Description

This 2013 large pure gold $350 coin is the first in a new series featuring iconic Canadian animals. This coin is certified to be 99.999% pure gold, the purest gold coin in the world, with a weight of 35 grams (well over an ounce).  Mintage of this coin is limited to just 600 pieces.  As a pure gold coin struck by the Royal Canadian Mint, this item is HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

This coin features a beautifully engraved full-body portrait of a large and powerful polar bear in its natural Arctic environment. Crouched atop a small rise in an ice field, the polar bear's massive musculature, paws, furred body and facial features are etched in great detail. The vast frozen landscape includes a rugged white terrain, rocky mountain range and an ominously clouded sky. The reverse is also engraved with the word "CANADA," the date "2013" and the face value of "350 DOLLARS."

The Polar Bear:

The majestic polar bear is a fitting icon for a nation. The evolution of the polar bear has been shaped by the forces of ice, wing, water and stone. Stoic and strong, adaptable and clever, the polar bear has captivated the Canadian imagination and been held up as a symbol of the northern spirit.
