Description
Based on its initial collector response, the 2013 “O Canada” coin series is likely to be one of the most sought after and difficult to obtain modern collections from the Royal Canadian Mint. Subscriptions for all twelve coins sold out from the Mint almost immediately, and single coins can be extremely difficult to find. This is the eighth coin in the 12 coin series celebrating our national identity and featuring some of Canada’s most popular images and icons. Total mintage for each is limited to 40,000. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
This $10 silver coin presents a male caribou set against the terrain of the Canadian North. The caribou faces you, his large rack of antlers, stocky body, and long legs viewed from the front. Below and behind him are the snow covered rocky ground and characteristic pines of Canada's northern boreal forest. In the distance, mountains stretch out along the horizon. This is the highest quality produced by the Royal Canadian Mint, double struck in pure silver with a near flawless matte proof finish and a weight of just over half an ounce.
