Description
The Winnipeg Jets special edition 50 cent coins provides both an opportunity to mark the 2011 return of the NHL team to Winnipeg and a chance to own ten examples of one of the lowest mintage regular size and metal half dollars ever issued in Canada. Although this 2011 coin was issued for collectors, its mintage of 23,712 coins is similar to the mintage of Canada’s ultra rare 1894 business strike half dollar which had a mintage of 20,000.
The Design:
The coin is double dated 2011 / 2012 and features the team logo, with a powerful image of a military jet in the center.
Since the Jets returned to Winnipeg in 2011, the triumphs of the team and its fans have continued to grow, including representing Canada in exciting Stanley Cup playoff games.
