Description
In 2011 and 2012, the Royal Canadian Mint created unique design collector issue Tooth Fairy 25 cents coins in an attractive presentation folder. A specially-composed rhyme for the tooth fairy is inside the presentation: "Under my pillow I will lay, the little tooth I lost today. Please, dear fairy, tonight as I sleep, leave me a coin - My tooth you can keep."
The Origin of the Tooth Fairy:
Dates back centuries ago to European history when parents commonly buried their children’s first fallen baby tooth in the ground. In addition to believing a new tooth would grow in its place, there was widespread belief that teeth had an element of power—so much power they could ward off evil. As people migrated to North America, so too did the legend.
Today, the tradition has evolved and the lost tooth is left under a child’s pillow at bedtime. While the child is sleeping, the Tooth Fairy makes a visit and takes the tooth in exchange for money or a gift. With the new Tooth Fairy Gift Card, a new tradition is born. Whether given in exchange for a first lost tooth or any lost tooth, it’s a perfect keepsake that can be cherished forever.
