Description
In 2002, a hidden "Lucky Loonie" buried beneath center ice brought good fortune to Canada as both our men’s and women’s hockey teams skated to Olympic gold. To celebrate this legendary moment and wish Canada’s athletes the very best for the 2006 Winter Games, the Royal Canadian Mint produced this specially designed Lucky Loonie.
A symbol of the nation's united hope, this coin features the iconic Common Loon uniquely posed with its wings proudly fanned out. It strikes a display of strength and dominance that mirrors the spirit of our Olympic teams.
