The Design
The reverse design features a captivating holographic depiction of the aurora glowing against a serene Canadian wilderness backdrop. For the first time, the Royal Canadian Mint combined a double-image hologram with frosted relief on the same side of the coin. Notably, this was also the Mint's first coin to feature a hologram without a raised border, allowing the shimmering lights to merge seamlessly with the engraved relief of the mountain peaks.
