Description
Between 2000 and 2003 the Royal Canadian Mint celebrated Canada's 20th-century transport innovations with the Land, Sea, and Rail Transportation Coin Series. Each year featured one coin each for Land (car), Sea (ship), and Rail (train).
The seventh coin in the series honors the Gray-Dort. This $20 special-edition sterling silver coin is designed with a holographic cameo.
The Gray-Dort
Built in Ontario, the Gray-Dort Model 25-SM gained widespread popularity across Canada for its affordability and high quality. More than 26,000 Gray-Dorts were manufactured between 1916 and 1924, though only around 50 are known to survive today.
