Description
In 1911 three trial strikes were minted in anticipation of Canada's first silver dollar (two silver trial strikes and one lead strike). The project was scrapped and the coin was never issued. It wasn't until 1935 that the government authorized the first official sterling silver dollar, commemorating the 25th anniversary of King George V’s accession to the throne. Today, the 1911 Canadian silver dollar stands as the nation's most valuable coin. Mintage is 24,996.
