Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2000, this sterling silver commemorative 25-cent coin is a piece from the special Millennium Series. 

In April 1998 the RCM launched a nationwide design competition, inviting Canadians to create twenty-four unique quarters for each month of 1999 and 2000. While the 1999 coins reflected on Canada’s rich history, the 2000 collection turned its gaze toward the future.

February: Ingenuity

Designed by artist John Jaciw, this coin depicts a vision of a model society, seamlessly blending prosperous farms, innovative cities, and rapid, safe transit systems with an ambitious gaze toward space exploration. Framing this futuristic landscape are the bilingual inscriptions "CANADA" and "INGENUITY 2000 INGÉNIOSITÉ."
