In celebration of Canada’s 125th Anniversary of Confederation twelve distinct 25-cent coins were released monthly, each paying tribute to a different province or territory.

Newfoundland’s 25-cent coin features a Grandy Dory, one of the region's most commonly used fishing boats. Craftsmen in Grand Bank built over three thousand of these classic wooden craft, supplying the essential needs of both bank and shore fishermen.
