Description
First unveiled in 1893 at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago by visionary civil engineer George Washington Gale Ferris Jr., the Ferris wheel was designed to rival the Eiffel Tower as an architectural wonder and symbol of innovation. Its sweeping views and mechanical brilliance captured hearts then, and over a century later, it continues to inspire joy and nostalgia at fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks around the globe.
The obverse of this extraordinary coin bursts with vibrant carnival charm. A clockwise arrangement of whimsical scenes showcases a starlit night sky, drifting clouds, glowing fairy lights, and colourful hot air balloons. Around the rim, playful vignettes come to life: a merry-go-round in motion, soaring flying swings, children at play, striped carnival tents, bunches of balloons, and the thrilling curves of a rollercoaster. The design is completed with the 2025 year-date, The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark, and a grand finale of colourful fireworks.
At the coin’s centre, a masterfully crafted rotating Ferris wheel steals the show. Adorned with multicoloured Swarovski crystals and plated in 24-carat gold on an alloy base, this intricate insert captures the magic and movement of the real thing.
Presented in a classic display case with a clear lid, and packaged in an illustrated shipper, each coin comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity — a perfect keepsake for collectors and dreamers alike.
