Large format dollar coins from the Royal Canadian Mint are always highly sought after, and this 2022 five ounce fine silver dollar coin was an immediate RCM sell-out.  The coin is one of the highlights of a series called “The Bigger Picture” which zooms in on Canada’s classic circulation coin designs and zooms out to reveal a much bigger story. Mintage is limited to only 1,300. HST/GST exempt.  

The Design:

This loon design re-imagines Canada’s one dollar circulation coin, shifting the focus to the loon. The classic loon dollar makes up part of the design with a selective gold plated finish, while the balance of the engraved art showcases an adult loon and chicks in the shallows of a Canadian lake. 

The obverse features a maple leaf pattern and the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
