Description
Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2000, this sterling silver commemorative 25-cent coin is a piece from the special Millennium Series.
In April 1998 the RCM launched a nationwide design competition, inviting Canadians to create twenty-four unique quarters for each month of 1999 and 2000. While the 1999 coins reflected on Canada’s rich history, the 2000 collection turned its gaze toward the future.
January: Pride
Representing January 2000, the "Pride" coin beautifully captures Canada's optimistic entry into the third millennium. Designed by artist Donald F. Warkentin, the reverse features a striking, large maple leaf adorned with a flowing ribbon that shapes the number "2" along with three smaller maple leaves, spelling out the year: "2000."
