While Canada’s classic maple leaf special issue coins are always sought after and widely collected, this stunning large format $50 fine silver coin is one of the lowest mintages ever, with a limited mintage of just 2,000 coins.  This 2019 three ounce fine silver coin celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint’s iconic Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin, a coin which quickly became one of the most recognized and respected bullion issues in the world.

The Design:

This new collector version is struck with an incuse design of the maple leaf originally created by Walter Ott in 1979 for the first gold maple leaf, beautifully enhanced with an overlay of 24 karat yellow gold.  The obverse image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is also incuse and overlaid with gold.  Commemorative edge lettering is also included with the number “40” flanked on both sides by a maple leaf.
