The Design:

Using a large 50 mm silver canvas, the design on this $30 fine silver coin has been fashioned by award-winning Canadian wildlife artist W. Allan Hancock.  This powerful scene captures an elk’s desperate last stand against two wolves. Stranded in the water and cut off from any escape routes, the prey stands its ground while the predators cautiously close in. The artist’s mastery breathes life into this tense snapshot, making the dynamic struggle feel incredibly real.
